The Cloud is Down

The Origins of Another Site No One Needs

A very long time ago, I worked at a company that was a Microsoft Partner. One of the benefits was a subscription to the Microsoft's shiny new Business Productivity Online Services. BPOS allowed you to host your Microsoft Exchange email at Microsoft. This sounded like a fantastic idea: Surely Microsoft would be excellent at building an infrastructure for one of their flagship projects, yes?

Actually, no. In the early days the service was surprisingly unreliable. When email was unavailable, users would often ask: "Is the cloud down?" Out of general annoyance, we registered this domain and used it as a status page. We stopped posting notices many, many years ago, and the domain has remained dormant until now.

Meanwhile, you might be wondering why the home page has a Monty Python quote. Someday soon, we'll clarify that. And by "soon" we mean "maybe someday."

And guess what? Now we have a truckload of new stupid bullshit to complain about. This is where we're going to do that.
